Things to do in Park City (Besides Ski)

Thankfully for some, there are many things to do in Park City besides riding the slopes!A not-to-miss activity is the Utah Olympic Park.  From several stories high interactive museum, to the Bob Sled ride that the adventurers in your group may want to brave, the zip line, drop tower, and finally to the several stories high ropes course, the Olympic State Park will not disappoint!

Indoors, you’ll find plenty of things to do in Park City too!  The Egyptian Theatre and Park City Museum on Main Street are fabulous options.  The museum is interactive and interesting for both kids and adults.  I always recommend it to my visiting friends and family.

Some people come to Park City just for its’ Outlet Shops.  Now shopping may not be your idea of a vacation, but the Outlet provides several options for brand-named gear and clothing just when you need it.

The Park City MARC is open to the public and provides several options to play indoors:  4 pickleball courts, basketball courts, track, gym with cardio equipment and weights, a bouldering wall and a game room.

The Silver Mountain Sports Club & Spa is open to visitors via day passes or weekly passes and provides a heated lap pool, fitness classes including yoga, a large gym, and a full-scale spa with a variety of treatments including chiropractic.  You can even drop your kids at their in-house childcare facility, Kids Cabin, and find some adult “you” time.

Looking for a few hours to play on the snow but an alternative to skiing?  There are a few spots in town to go sledding that mostly only locals know about.  The best is on the slope leading to the field near the Park City Ice Arena.  Plug the Ice Arena’s address into your phone and you’ll be sure to see people going down the hill if there’s snow!  And if your crew wants to go ice skating, just call the Ice Arena and ask what time Open Skate is for the day.

Snow Tubing allows the non-skiers/snowboarders to experience the thrill of speed.  Last year, Park City’s Tubing Hill was closed for renovation.  They’ve expanded into Woodward Park City.  It will open for the 2019-2020 winter season and in addition to Tubing, there appears to be indoor skateboarding and trampoline fun.  It’s much more expensive than the snow tubing option in Midway, UT (read more about Midway below)

A half-hour outside Park City is a natural hot spring that is located in a mountain crater.  You can visit the Homestead Crater, but make sure to make a reservation first!

In that same general area, you can enjoy horseback riding, sleigh riding, snowmobiling, and a host of other activities through Rocky Mountain Outfitters.

You’ll find the longest snow tubing lanes in the state in Midway.  Check out Soldier Hollow tubing!

Another snowmobile outfitter that also offers snow bikes is Unita Recreation.  And for the little ones, these guys offer a new toy, miniature snowmobiles!
