Hiking Highlights
Discover incredible breath-taking beauty on hikes close to Park City.
Stewart Falls
The 30 minute drive to Stewart Falls is worth this excursion on its own merit. You’ll pass by Jordanelle and the Deer Creek Reservoir with the Timpanogos Mountains towering above, and then drive up and into the Sundance Resort area, finally arriving at the trailhead to Stewart Falls. It’s about 4 miles round-trip. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/utah/stewart-falls-trails
Bridal Veil Falls
Just a bit further down the highway from Stewart Falls is a short 1.5 mile hike to a massive waterfall called Bridal Veils. This is visible from the highway and the height and scope of this waterfall is impressive. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/utah/bridal-veil-falls-trail–2
Right out the Front Door
Don’t want to drive and looking for a nearby hike? Just exit the front door and turn right! Head up to the Daly Trailhead and keep going up, up, up! You’ll eventually run into the Montage, a Deer Valley Hotel. Great little spot for outdoor cocktails and lunch if you want a break. Up in this Daly Canyon area there are many little hikes you may enjoy including the Bonanza Abandoned Mine route which takes you to see some of the iconic mines on Park City Mountain Resort.
Near Brighton Ski Resort
During the summer you can drive up through Deer Valley, over the crest of the mountain and down into Big Cottonwood Canyon where you’ll find amazing hikes like the iconic Lakes Catherine, Martha and Mary hikes. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/utah/lake-catherine-via-brighton-lakes-trail You’ll run into Catherine first, then if you have the energy, keep going to see the other sisters. Or, if you want a flatter hike but equally breathtaking, right near the Brighton parking lot is a boardwalk hike around Silver Lake. It’s only about a mile long. No dogs are allowed in this area.
Challenge Yourself
For a more challenging hike, consider hiking Lake Blanche which is a stunning lake just a few miles downhill of Brighton Ski Resort. This is a moderate hike, around 7 miles round trip, and steeper than the other recommendations. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/utah/lake-blanche-trail No dogs are allowed in this area as well.
Perfect for Kids
Step up the adventure and take a rope swing ride into a chilly lake for the days entertainment. A less steep incline brings you to a lake just over guardsman’s pass called Blood Lake. It’s a 2.8 mile round trip hike to this lake. The water may be a bit cold but the rope swing is thrilling! https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/utah/bloods-lake-trail–3
The Unitas
Another stunning drive is into the Unita mountains, where you can find a hike that passes 20 lakes in 7 miles! If you are looking for a beautiful long drive to a stunning lake, Mirror Lake might be the one for you. On your way, stop by a roadside waterfall called Upper Provo Falls, then continue along up to Mirror Lake where you can walk the flat perimeter of the lake, which is about 1 miles around. Bring smores and set a fire in one of the campfire rings you’ll find there. Unlike Brighton’s Silver Lake, which is also a flat and 1 mile loop around a stunning lake, you can take your dog here. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/utah/mirror-lake-loop
